Designed by Nina Tolstrup
Nina Tolstrup holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Business School of Copenhagen and a degree in industrial design from ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris. She has worked in various areas of design and communication, which has given her a 360 perspective and approach to design. Today she resides in London, where Tolstrup has run Studiomama since 2000 with her partner, Jack Mama.
The Danish designer has always been an advocate for green and sustainable solutions, and she was among the first to create a piece of furniture that you could copy by downloading the manual from her website. The Pallet Project from 2008 was an immediate success that pushed the boundaries and expectations for design and production.
Nina Tolstrup’s sustainable ethos combined with an exploratory and playful approach has resulted in a socially-relevant portfolio that encompasses architecture, interior design, jewellery, exhibition design, curation, products, and furniture. Understanding people’s needs and the socio-cultural context within which they live is central to Studiomama’s practice. The studio works with objects, interiors, and architecture.
