The Blackwing Pearl  is a bit harder than the regular Blackwing, but still soft and dark. We place its lead at around a 2B grade. It stays sharp longer, so people who enjoy smooth pencils but don’t want to sharpen them as often prefer the Pearl. Its balance of darkness and hardness also makes it great for people who want to use the same pencil to both write and draw with.

The pencil is made from FSC-certified Genuine Incense-cedar from Oregon and California, premium Japanese graphite and features replaceable erasers.

The Blackwing has is a soft lead, the Pearl  a mid weight, the 602  firm and the Natural  is the firmest. 

The unique rectangular eraser can be extended as it wears down from use, and also pops out completely from the pencil body for replacement.
