Taking cues from the meaning of ‘kobo’ or ray, this coaster radiates beauty in its design and construction. The raised ray pattern collects condensation from a glass to keep the surface below clean and dry. The coaster has a nice height and weight and features a clear silicone footing, giving it substantial presence without slipping or damaging a table. As with all Futagami brass designs, this piece develops a handsome patina over time.
Beyond a coaster it makes for a delightful improv candle stand for our Pine Cone or Hohepa Egg candles.
- Made in Japan – Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture
- Solid Brass / Silicon Footing
- ‘IHADA’ casting – a crude surface finish
- ØxH: 100 x 8 mm
- 270g (Substantially weighty)
The brass gradually changes its colour over the course of years due to oxidization. The longer it is used, the richer and subtler it becomes.
This patina can also be acquired by soaking in vinegar for a few hours or overnight and conversely polished back with Brasso. ◎
